Biography
In Toni Reutter’s world, living in constant transformation is the norm. Her catchy tunes and nuanced lyrics unite the two hemispheres she calls home, creating a soundtrack for those who live in the in between. “I’m carving my space in the music industry by letting go of the idea that I, and anyone really, must fall into existing lanes,” she says.
The Chilean-born, New York-based, singer, songwriter, and producer has been performing since 2016. Holding shows in legendary venues such as The Bitter End, Pianos, and honoring Clive Davis at the 2019 NYU Tisch Gala, Toni’s work has been leading up to her debut single, “Stolen DVD” and upcoming EP.
Her music emits colors, painting the room with neon greens, pinks, and purples that allure listeners as her melodies ring. Influenced by pop icons Rosalía and BANKS, as well as Stevie Wonder and Prince, Toni’s songs travel from different genres and moods while keeping her staple songwriter/producer sound. “I’ve allowed myself to go crazy,” she says. “I know that my work makes sense when I have creative control.”
Toni Reutter’s debut single, “Stolen DVD” blends Latin harmony with vocoders, programmed bass, sampled drums, and processed vocals, joining today’s forward-thinking pop while bringing back sonic elements of 80s/90s disco. Sexy and mysterious, minimalist in its grooviness and bounce, witty and bitchy yet sad and vulnerable, “Stolen DVD” is the power-walk inspiration every woman needs.
